SAN FRANCISCO and COLOGNE, Germany —March 29, 2010 —Cloudmark, Inc., a global leader in carrier-grade messaging security and infrastructure solutions, along with eco, the Association of the German Internet Industry and Europe’s largest Internet associations, today announced a partnership, integrating data from eco’s Certified Senders Alliance (CSA) whitelist project as one of several components of Cloudmark’s backend messaging security processing system, to improve the delivery of legitimate, permission-based emails for German and international senders.
“In addition to collaborating with Cloudmark to ensure that legitimate opt-in marketing messages and newsletters are reaching the intended recipients, we are working together to ensure participants in the Certified Senders Alliance are engaging in best practices,” said Sven Karge, director content department at eco.
The CSA is a centrally administered whitelist with standard registration procedures for mass mailers, services and customer compliant mechanisms. The certification service functions as the interface between mass mailers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). This ensures that emails actually requested by the end user from respectable mailers arrive smoothly at its destination without the mailer having to worry about its mail being branded illegitimate. Server-side spam filters from participating ISPs allow legitimate messages to pass through, while only individual user settings can block messages from list-approved mass mailers. This approach can save time and resources for both ISPs and mass mailers. Service providers can expect fewer complaints from both customers and marketers about messages that should have been received -- effectively reducing time spent on managing customer service issues and freeing up valuable operational resources.
“Working with eco, Cloudmark is widening its intelligence into German and European senders, and in turn, better serving operators in Europe,” said Jamie Tomasello, director of security operations at Cloudmark.
