Wireless Edge Integrates Cloudmark To Maximize Messaging Security in Network Infrastructures

ITU Telecom World 2006, Hong Kong, December 5, 2006-Wireless Edge is integrating industry-leading messaging security technology from Cloudmark into its converged network security solutions. The companies have entered into an OEM agreement through which Wireless Edge will add Cloudmark Authority(tm) to its best of class deep content inspection, building the carrier-class technology into a range of edge devices to block spam and phishing attacks. The first enhanced offerings will be available early next year beginning with Wireless Edge's BeSecure content security gateway.

Wireless Edge delivers network edge solutions to carriers, service providers and enterprises maintaining large heterogeneous networks. The company's Unified Edge Services Platform (UESP) secures, accelerates and controls application traffic over both wireless and wired networks. With the volume and sophistication of spam increasing steadily and a surging growth in mobile messaging threats, Wireless Edge sought to maximize its messaging security capabilities to keep spam, virus and phishing off mail servers and block new threats to MMS and other mobile applications for service providers and enterprises.

"Spam is a major problem for end-users and IT departments worldwide," says Dr. Phil Gee, CEO. "With over 90% of service provider inbound email being spam, mobile users in particular will resent being deluged with spam as this problem grows, and in some cases, charged to receive it. Wireless Edge trialed Cloudmark's solutions and was impressed by the speed, accuracy and ease of integration. "As a software-based solution, BeSecure integrated with Cloudmark Authority is going to be much better suited to the intensive content processing required for high volumes of messaging traffic than hardware-based firewall alternatives."

With Cloudmark anti-spam solutions integrated into Wireless Edge's clientless content scanning technology, customers will gain maximum control of messaging traffic into and out of networks and be able to protect the broadest range of devices including desktops, laptops, PDAs, smartphones, game consoles and media players. Availability

Integration of Cloudmark's spam detection into Wireless Edge's BeSecure solutions is underway with joint solutions scheduled to ship in Q1 2007.
