Cloudmark Server Edition

"The Cloudmark Server Edition server is unable to connect to Exchange."

There are several possible reasons why CSE might not be able to connect to Exchange. Please go through the checklist below to resolve this issue.

If you are running Exchange 2007/2010, please see the support document Errors connecting to Exchange 2007/2010 after installing CSE for the first time.

The most common reason why CSE won't connect to Exchange is that the CSE service user's mailbox is hidden. Please make sure that the mailbox for the dedicated CSE service user is not hidden.

If this does not resolve your problem, please do the following:

  1. Start the Cloudmark Server Edition Administration Console by going to Start > Programs > Cloudmark Server Edition > Cloudmark Server Edition Administration Console
  2. Right click on the machine name where CSE is installed and choose "Server Configuration".
  3. Click on the Connection tab.
  4. Change the value of the MAPI Profile from CloudmarkSE_Profile to CloudmarkSE_Profile2.
  5. Restart the CSE service.

This issue can also occur if a public folder database has not been created and mounted. There are two ways to solve this problem:

  • create and mount a public folder database

See this article from Microsoft for instructions:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335208.aspx

  • edit the Windows registry

If you want CSE to ignore the absence of a public folder database and connect to Exchange without one, follow the instructions below.

How to edit the Windows registry

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Select Run....
  3. In the Run window, enter the following:

    regedit

  4. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry directory:
    • On a 32-bit operating system:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cloudmark\Cloudmark Server Edition\Properties\

    • On a 64-bit operating system:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cloudmark\Cloudmark Server Edition\Properties\

  5. From the Edit menu, select New > DWORD Value.
  6. Name the new value "MAPIIgnoreNoPF".
  7. Set the value of the MAPIIgnoreNoPF key to "1".
  8. Close the Registry Editor.
  9. Restart CSE.

If the above does not resolve your issue, then please verify that you have assigned the correct permissions for the dedicated CSE service user by referring to the CSE Installation Guide.

If your problem remains unresolved, then please enter a request for help.
