Fixed Networks – Features and Benefits
Key Features and Benefits
The Cloudmark Security Platform provides the most effective protection against the widest range of messaging threats, and the fastest response to email abuse. Some important features and benefits are detailed below:
Complete Messaging Security for Fixed Networks
The Cloudmark Security Platform protects ISPs, hosting providers and end users against all categories of messaging abuse and threats originating from internal or external network sources. Broad visibility into global messaging trends and simplified web-based management enable easy creation of security policies that stop abusive messaging traffic before it can affect service quality. Cloudmark messaging security solutions free up network bandwidth, improve network stability, and reduce infrastructure requirements and operational costs. Customers and end users will enjoy a secure and trusted messaging experience that improves brand loyalty and adoption of value-added services.
Automatic Protection against Messaging Threats
Rather than relying on static rules or imprecise heuristics, Cloudmark uses proprietary message fingerprinting technology and real-time threat analysis from more than 2 billion sources in 165 countries. The Cloudmark Global Threat Network delivers comprehensive threat updates every 60 seconds, providing up-to-the-minute spam and threat protection. This enables Cloudmark to detect and mitigate all categories of spam and messaging threats including rapidly mutating variants. Cloudmark Edge provides outbound messaging security, preventing IP address blacklisting and reputation hijacking. The Cloudmark Security Platform enables service providers to combat messaging and security threats as they occur, without any service interruption or manual operator involvement.
Purpose-Built for ISP and Hosting Provider Environments
Cloudmark's carrier-grade messaging security solutions provide the high performance and scalability that fixed networks require. Highly efficient, patented and patent-pending algorithms analyze all messaging traffic in real-time, delivering extremely messaging high throughput. This enables more efficient utilization of network resources, significantly reducing infrastructure requirements and related operational expenses. High scalability along with IPv6 support enables optimization of existing network infrastructure and future operational expansion.
Message Fingerprinting Provides Effective and Efficient Protection
Cloudmark has developed a set of intelligent message 'fingerprinting' algorithms to identify and track spam, phishing, fraud, virus and other malicious attacks throughout a provider's network. Cloudmark's fingerprinting algorithms work together to identify a variety of threat attributes that might be embedded in a message. For example, they could be used to identify all mutations of a given attack, including changes in content, images, senders and web addresses.
Real-Time Threat Analysis and Updates
The Cloudmark Global Threat Network receives real-time threat reports from more than 2 billion subscribers based in 165 countries, and analyzes over 150 million spam and malware reports every month. Members of the Global Threat Network span service provider abuse teams, system administrators, automated spam traps and end users. New threats are added to the Cloudmark Global Threat Network within minutes of the first attack instance.
Granular Message Filtering and Analysis
The Cloudmark Security Platform scans message content in detail, allowing providers to implement security actions at a granular level. Providers can control messaging based on protocol, content and volume patterns over time. For example, administrators can define a policy to throttle or block abusive senders from inside their network and from partner networks, with optional logging of message meta-data or contents for later review. Protocol controls can also be used to monitor and enforce usage policies for value-added service providers and to stop abuse of bulk-sender rights. Alerts can be set to notify administrators based on specific combinations of protocol attributes. Providers can also block messages or alert administrators based on keywords, dictionaries, regular expressions and even specific message elements.
Protection against Outbound IP Address Blacklisting
IP address blacklisting occurs when outbound spam causes a provider's IP address to be added to worldwide blacklists. Cloudmark blocks outbound spam and threats sent from third-party sources at the network edge to stop IP address blacklisting. The appliance-based security solution intercepts email, web requests and file transfers at the network layer, scans traffic at multi-gigabit speeds at the application-layer, and applies granular filtering to block spam and threats.
