When I install Cloudmark Desktop, I see an error about a "Windows installer package"

When installing or upgrading Cloudmark Desktop, some users may see the following error:

"There is an error with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run."

This is a problem with InstallShield and not Cloudmark Desktop.

How to resolve a problem with InstallShield

  1. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from the following location:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301

    It will appear in your programs list as Windows Install Clean Up.

  2. In Windows, open the Start menu and select Programs > Windows Install Clean Up.
  3. In the list of installed products, select Cloudmark Desktop.
  4. Click Remove.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Download and install the latest version of Cloudmark Desktop:
    http://cloudmark.com/desktop/download/update/
