How do I purge deleted messages from an IMAP account?
When using an IMAP account, deleted messages are shown in the inbox with a red line through them.
You can automatically purge deleted messages in an IMAP account. Select your email client:
- Open Outlook, and click "Edit".
- Choose "Purge", and then "Purge Options".
- Under the "General" tab, check the box that says: "Purge items when switching folders while online".
- Click "OK", and then restart Outlook.
- Open Outlook Express, and click "Tools".
- Choose "Options", and then click the "Maintenance" tab.
- Under the "Maintenance" tab, check the box that says: "Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders".
- Click "OK", and then restart Outlook Express.
