How do I disable the InstallShield Update Manager?

If you installed an older version of Cloudmark Desktop for Microsoft Outlook, the InstallShield program may have also installed the InstallShield Update Manager, which periodically informs you of updates for all applications that were installed with InstallShield. This is not necessary for Cloudmark Desktop, which has its own built-in automatic updater.

There are two ways to stop receiving updates from the InstallShield Update Manager:

If you do not want program updates, this application may be disabled through the Program Updates console located at Start > Control Panel > Program Updates > Change Update Settings.

How to disable the InstallShield Update Manager

  1. In Windows, open the Start menu.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Program Updates control panel.
  4. Click the Change Update Settings button.
  5. In the program list, select InstallShield Update Manager.
  6. Select "The InstallShield Update Manager will not automatically check for updates."
  7. Click OK.

How to uninstall the InstallShield Update Manager

  1. Download the uninstaller:
    http://saturn.installshield.com/isus/310/sdk/uninstallupdatemanager.exe
  2. Double-click the downloaded uninstaller file and follow the on-screen instructions.
