FAQ: Should I Block messages with my own email address in the From field?

Cloudmark does not use the From field to identify spam, so you can safely block spam or phishing that has your email address in the From field. This will not block messages that you send.

Spammers sometimes include the recipient's email address in the From field to trick less-sophisticated spam filters or to trick the recipient into reading the message. You should block such messages if you receive them. Cloudmark analyzes the body of the message to determine whether similar messages are spam, regardless of the contents of the From field.
