Hugh McCartney

Chief Executive Officer

Hugh McCartney

A seasoned executive with over 25 years experience in the computer software industry, Hugh McCartney recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Services at enterprise software company Merant, based in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining Merant, Hugh held senior Sales and General Management positions in Europe with database vendors Sybase Inc. and Ingres Inc. and application software company MSA Inc.

Formerly an independent director of Cloudmark's board, Hugh also served as chairman of UK-based Scapa Technologies, an innovator in security testing solutions; as an executive and chairman of Neverfail, a global provider of fail-safe technologies; and as chairman of Centennial Software, a developer of network discovery tools. As non-executive Chairman of KVS plc, he was responsible for facilitating the acquisition of KVS plc by Veritas for US $225 million on August 31st, 2004. In addition, Hugh has held board positions within several European software companies, both venture funded and publicly traded.

Vipul Ved Prakash

Founder and Chief Scientist

Vipul Ved Prakash

Vipul Ved Prakash is a well known computer scientist and software engineer. A quintessential innovator, Vipul has repeatedly turned popular wisdom on its head to create clever solutions to hard problems. At the age of 18 he founded Sense/Net, a company that bootstrapped Internet connectivity in India by creating an unconventional meta-network of IP tunnels. In 1998, he created "Vipul's Razor", the world's first collaborative spam filtration network which evolved into Cloudmark's anti-abuse technology.

Prior to Cloudmark, Vipul held senior engineering, research and consulting positions at Napster, Silicon Graphics, NIIT, PacificNet, BPL and Infocom. A prolific contributor to the Open Source/Free Software movement, Vipul has authored software for cryptography, number theory, networking, object concurrency, and intelligent scheduling, many of which are included with popular Linux and BSD distributions. Vipul is also a co-author of the "Oribiten Free Software Survey", an EU-sponsored project that was the first successful effort to build a comprehensive empirical model of OS/F participation. The tools and methodologies developed in that survey have become seminal in the emerging field of trans-monetary economics.

Vipul is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and academic events on the issues of computing and spam. In 2003, MIT's Technology Review named him as one of the Top 100 Young Innovators in the World.

Jamie De Guerre

Chief Technology Officer

Jamie De Guerre

As CTO, Jamie is responsible for Cloudmark's technical strategy and roadmap. Additionally, Jamie manages Cloudmark's Technology Services, Sales Engineering and ISP Support teams, ensuring a tight bridge between customers and internal technical development.

Jamie has played a central role in shaping Cloudmark's products and technologies since joining Cloudmark in 2003. Jamie started as a core member of the design team writing the first design specifications for Cloudmark Server Edition and multiple versions of Cloudmark Authority. Jamie was also instrumental in dramatically growing Cloudmark's Global Threat Network, with the invention of the Cloudmark Network Feedback System enabling automatic incorporation of feedback from all subscribers within a service provider's network.

Jamie has spoken at numerous industry events and panels in the areas of email security, mobile technologies and future security threat vectors related to new types of messaging. Prior to joining Cloudmark, he worked at Microsoft on the .NET Compact Framework, where he first began working with service providers. Jamie holds a Bachelor degree with honors in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario.

Jacinta Tobin

Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Business Development

Jacinta Tobin

Jacinta Tobin has over 15 years global business development, channels, sales management and marketing experience in high technology and consulting with particular emphasis on the financial services and Telco sectors. Past experience includes Senior Executive, Channels for a division of the Mysis Group, one of the largest providers of technology to the financial services sector where she grew distribution channels and sales into 64 countries, beating targets by 300%; head of Market Development in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific for the data warehousing division of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where she developed a global distribution deal with IBM as well as spearheading direct sales in to the financial services sector; and Principal of Business Development for Prospect Management Consulting, where she finalized deals with global banks such as CitiBank, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase and grew revenue by 600% culminating in a successful sale of Prospect Consulting to Logica CMG. Most recently, Jacinta was Vice President of Business Development at Communigate Systems, a pioneer in secure messaging, where she drove close partnerships with HP, IBM, Sun and Apple as well as leading direct sales into Service Providers such as Charter Communications and Cable & Wireless.

Jacinta has also founded Quantum Internet, an application hosting provider and has acted as advisor to numerous entities including several Bay Area start-ups focused on security and anti-spam, the Australian Government on the attraction of Financial Services Investment into Australia and the IDA on exports of software from Europe into Asia Pacific.

Jacinta holds a BA in International Marketing, German and French from Dublin City University and the University of Cologne.

Leon Rishniw

Vice President, Engineering

Leon Rishniw

Leon Rishniw is an experienced engineering executive who has built and managed software development departments since 1997. Most recently, Leon was Director of Engineering with Sony where he managed international development efforts between media and hardware companies within Sony. Prior to joining Sony, Leon served as VP of Engineering at Liquid Audio, a digital music company where he managed the development of software products and services.

Leon holds a Bachelor degree in Digital Systems and Computer Engineering from RMIT University, Australia.

Chandra Shekhar Tekwani

Vice President of Mobile Operations

Chandra Shekhar Tekwani

As vice president of mobile operations at Cloudmark, Chandra is responsible for product strategy, architecture, product management and go-to-market efforts for Cloudmark's mobile carrier business.

Prior to joining Cloudmark, Tekwani founded Core Mobile Networks, Inc. where he focused on the secure delivery of cloud-based enterprise applications to smart phones over 2G, 3G and 4G wireless networks. Tekwani also provided consulting services in the areas of WiMAX and 4G wireless core networking, mobile security, security in virtualized environments and IMS-based-FMC. He served as a solutions consultant to HarrisStratex Networks for end-to-end solution design for 4G wireless broadband for consumers and enterprises, voice-over-IP and video-on-demand services, including seamless integration into existing 3G networks. Tekwani also worked as consulting vice president for strategy, product management and partnerships for WiMAX infrastructure vendor Telsima. Prior to that, Tekwani served as vice president and head of Mobile & Convergence Marketing & Partnerships at Juniper Networks, which included IMS-based fixed mobile convergence and mobile carrier solution management, marketing and partnerships. Tekwani joined Juniper Networks as part of the company's acquisition of NetScreen in 2004. At NetScreen, Tekwani started the Mobile Carrier Security business and managed the Alliances Program for Service Provider and Enterprise Business. Prior to NetScreen, he worked as director of engineering for security products at Nokia. During a career spanning nearly 20 years in the industry, Tekwani also held positions at Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, AT&T Bell Labs and Unisys.

Tekwani holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from IIT Roorkee, India, a master's degree in computer science from the University of Warwick UK and a certificate in business management from the University of California. He holds a patent for a system and method for public key infrastructure-based software licensing and has four pending applications for systems to securely deliver cloud services to mobile handsets.

Barbara Fiske-Nyland

Vice President and General Counsel

Barbara Fiske-Nyland

Barbara Fiske-Nyland joined Cloudmark as Vice President and General Counsel in August 2007. Ms. Fiske-Nyland brings over 15 years of legal and business experience to Cloudmark. Prior to joining Cloudmark, she served in legal and management positions for a number of technology companies including Intel, USWeb/CKS, CKS Group and Packet Engines. Ms. Fiske-Nyland began her legal career at the firm of White and Case and then moved her practice to the Silicon Valley firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati. She has handled a broad range of corporate transactions including licensing, venture capital financings, M & A transactions, public offerings and SEC compliance matters.

Gary Iwatani

Consultant

Gary Iwatani is a seasoned technology veteran with more than 20 years of senior finance and operations experience in public and private technology companies. Before joining Cloudmark in its early stage, Gary was CFO of Keen, Inc. Prior to Keen, Gary was SVP and CFO of digital music company, Liquid Audio, Inc., where he grew the company from 20 employees to over 200 and took the company public in 1999; raising $72 million in the IPO and an additional $98 million in a follow-on offering. Gary was also CFO of consumer software publisher, Berkeley Systems, where he helped successfully expand the company's AfterDark screen saver franchise into digital entertainment prior to selling the company to Cendant. Gary also held management positions with Ernst & Young, US West and Insignia Solutions. Gary holds a BS degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University and is a CPA in the state of California.
