Eric S. Byunn
FTV Capital
Eric joined FTV Capital in 2002 and is currently a Partner leading the firm's software team. Eric has 14 years of experience in venture capital, technology and management consulting. Prior to joining FTV Capital, Eric was Director of Online Services at myCFO, a start-up wealth management firm. He joined myCFO from America Online, where he held several roles including management of Netscape's Personal Finance Channel. Prior to the acquisition of Netscape by AOL, Eric led product management for the Netscape Navigator browser. He has also worked at Microsoft and at McKinsey & Company, where he primarily worked with telecommunications clients. Eric received an AB summa cum laude from Harvard University, where he focused on economics and computer science, and an MBA from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Ben Cukier
FTV Capital
Ben joined FTV Capital in 1999 and is currently a Partner leading investments in asset management, lending and banking. Ben was previously with the Telecommunications and Media Team at Madison Dearborn Partners in Chicago. Prior to joining Madison Dearborn Partners, Ben was with McKinsey & Co. in New York, where he consulted to clients in the telecommunications, Internet, and healthcare industries. Ben received his BS and BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Stanford University.
Hugh McCartney
Chief Executive Officer
A seasoned executive with over 25 years experience in the computer software industry, he recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Services at enterprise software company Merant, based in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining Merant, he held senior Sales and General Management positions in Europe with database vendors Sybase Inc. and Ingres Inc. and application software company MSA Inc.
Formerly an independent director of Cloudmark's board, McCartney also served as chairman of UK-based Scapa Technologies, an innovator in security testing solutions; as an executive and chairman of Neverfail, a global provider of fail-safe technologies; and as chairman of Centennial Software, a developer of network discovery tools. As non-executive Chairman of KVS plc, McCartney was responsible for facilitating the acquisition of KVS plc by Veritas for US $225 million on August 31st, 2004. In addition, McCartney has held board positions wtih several European software companies, both venture funded and publicly traded.
Cameron Myhrvold
Ignition Partners
Cameron is a general partner and one of the founders of Ignition. Cameron invests in software and infrastructure companies. He serves as a director of Seven Networks, Consera Software and Cloudmark. Cameron also serves as a board member of RLX Technologies and Wild Tangent.
Prior to Ignition, Cameron spent thirteen years with Microsoft Corporation, most recently as Vice President of the Internet Customer Unit, where he was responsible for building business relationships with network operators and a broad range of telecommunications providers. Cameron was responsible for setting strategy and building relationships with such global telecommunications providers as NTT, AT&T, MCI, Nortel, Cisco, Qualcomm, British Telecom, Deutsche Telecom, GTE, US West and Bell Atlantic.
Cameron created the Developer Relations Group, which evangelized Windows and Microsoft's other operating system technologies to the independent software vendors and third-party developer community. Together with Brad, Richard Tong and Jonathan Roberts, this group initiated the "platform marketing" effort at Microsoft creating a virtual industry ecosystem of third parties, each independently incented to drive adoption of Microsoft Windows. This effort became a 320-member team with an annual budget of $65 million, and was responsible for revenue of over $400 million and recruited a community of 44,000 independent software vendors to develop Windows software.
Cameron co-founded Dynamical Systems Inc, to develop multitasking operating systems for the PC, which he sold to Microsoft in 1986.
Cameron received his Bachelors degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
Ian Perry
Ian Perry combines 22 years sales, operations and general management experience in the IT industry with domain experience in the communications industry, spanning processor and network hardware, infrastructure software and high value software applications sold into wireline, wireless and IP service providers.
After successfully building and managing communication verticals for database and infrastructure software vendors Ingres and Sybase, Ian went on to join Portal Software as Vice President, EMEA in 1998. During his four year tenure at Portal Software the company achieved a dominant market position in convergent billing and customer care solutions, supporting a very successful NASDAQ IPO, and the acquisition and integration of a major billing software engineering capability in Germany.
Since leaving Portal in 2001, Ian set up an independent consulting business active in supporting early stage organizations backed by venture capital companies, and holds non-executive board positions at Empower Interactive Group and Cloudmark Inc.
Michael Tanne
Endeavor Group
Michael has been creating and leading software ventures for over 15 years. He is currently Principal of Endeavor Group, which launches and invests in new technology ventures. Previously, Michael was Founder and CEO of XDegrees, a leader in distributed access to enterprise file systems (acquired by Microsoft, 2002). Earlier, he was Founder and VP, Bus Dev of AdForce, a highly successful Internet ad serving provider which went public in 1999. Prior to AdForce, Michael directed product management at Verity, the leader in enterprise search. In 1992, soon after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Michael helped entrepreneurs create technology companies as Assistant Director of the Center for Emerging Technology Enterprises in Warsaw, Poland. His first company was Madenta Communications, a provider of speech and computer access devices for the disabled (now Madentec).
Michael is a Founder and Board Member of Full Circle Fund, a Bay Area non-profit that engages emerging business leaders in philanthropy through grants and hands-on assistance to promising organizations. Michael holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Stanford University.
Martin Tobias
Ignition Partners
Martin is an Ignition Venture Partner. He works on Ignition's infrastructure software investments. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Cloudmark.
Prior to Ignition, Martin spent more than 15 years in operating roles in technology companies, including four years at Loudeye Technologies and six years with Microsoft.
Martin was the CEO of Loudeye Technologies Inc, which he founded in 1997 and took public in March of 2000. Through his leadership, the company grew to be one of the largest providers of audio and video enabling solutions for the Internet. Martin developed many strategic partnerships and customers including Microsoft, Real Networks, NBC, CBS, AOL, Universal, Sony, Warner Bros. and EMI.
Prior to founding Loudeye, Martin spent six years with Microsoft where he played a key role in the launch of Select 3.0 (the volume licensing program for corporations) and developed the company's channel policies to allow electronic software distribution (ESD). He also led operational projects critical to Microsoft International's worldwide expansion, particularly in Europe, Scandinavia and Australia.
Prior to his time at Microsoft, Martin was with Andersen Consulting (Accenture). Martin is an active investor in high tech companies and participates on a number of boards.
Martin received his bachelor's degree in marketing and computer science from Oregon State University. He and his wife Alex have set up the Martin and Alex Tobias Family Foundation that supports a wide variety of charitable causes.
