Cloudmark's Rapid Growth in Europe Leads To New European Headquarters
Carrier-grade messaging security leader Cloudmark opens European HQ to provide local support to growing European customer base
London, April 24, 2007 – Cloudmark, Inc., a global provider of carrier-grade messaging security, today opens its European headquarters in Chiswick, South West London. The move cements Cloudmark's commitment to the European market and will enable the company to expand European sales and offer local support to existing service provider customers, which include THUS/Demon, Tele2, UPC Chello, FastWeb and intY.
Cloudmark's European expansion follows a revenue growth of 110% over the past year. With new European customers already in the pipeline, Cloudmark has appointed Paul Averill as VP of Sales. Bringing with him over 20 years sales experience in the technology and software sector, Paul will drive Cloudmark's continued European growth directly from the London office. Appointed alongside Paul is Neil Cook, as Head of Technical Solutions, EMEA. With over 15 years experience in designing and deploying large-scale service provider messaging and directory solutions, Neil will work closely with Paul to provide local technical expertise to Cloudmark's European customers.
Cloudmark protects networks from all forms of messaging threats, keeping service provider infrastructure and subscriber mailboxes clear of unwanted traffic by blocking spam, virus and phishing attacks in real time. Cloudmark provides security intelligence and filtering at all points in the messaging infrastructure. It combines highly sophisticated Advanced Message Fingerprinting(tm) technology, which immediately and automatically identifies any new threat and all its mutations, with its Global Threat Network, the largest and most sophisticated in the industry consisting of trusted reporters in 163 countries.
Because the technology uses application and language-agnostic threat analysis, looking at the core structure and content of the message rather than the text, Cloudmark is able to detect threats in any form, format or language. Cloudmark's automated approach, combining Advanced Message Fingerprinting with real-time, corroborated feedback from the Global Threat Network, is proven to be 20 times faster and 30% more accurate than other solutions.
Paul Averill, VP of Sales, EMEA commented: "Abusive messages now constitutes up to 95% of total email traffic which poses a serious threat to subscriber satisfaction and loyalty. It also affects service providers' infrastructure and operational costs, creating a drain on resources. Investing in solutions to eliminate all forms of inbound messaging abuse, including spam, phishing and viruses, before they impact email infrastructure and subscriber inboxes can prevent customer churn and reduce these infrastructure overheads."
Neil Cook, Head of Technical Services, EMEA adds: "Mobile operators also need to look at ways to protect their network and subscriber base. As more subscribers access their business and personal emails from devices such as Blackberrys, Treos, feature phones and wireless-enabled laptops, mobile operators will face the same types and levels of threats seen previously only in the fixed-line environment. Mobile-targeted malware designed to damage device operating systems or infiltrate corporate networks will be costly for businesses and consumers and will grow significantly as Internet and mobile communications converge."
"This increase in messaging abuse, across the fixed and mobile environment, is spearheading the demand by service providers for more accurate and time sensitive solutions," concluded Averill.
User privacy and data security are at the core of Cloudmark's technology. Regulations, such as the Data Protection Act, mean it is illegal for organisations to send customer information off-site without the explicit permission of the subscriber. With Cloudmark, messages are securely checked against a local cache of the latest threat data and not sent outside an organisation's network.
The world's largest carriers, cable companies and mobile operators rely on Cloudmark to protect their messaging systems and services from current and emerging threats. Cloudmark is currently protecting more than 180 million mailboxes and over 80 of the world's largest fixed line, mobile, cable and Internet Service Providers around the globe. Cloudmark's top-tier service provider customers include NTT Communications, Cox Communications, Charter Communications and Vodafone.
