Cloudmark Provides Industry-Leading Messaging Security to XS4ALL with Cloudmark Authority for Apache SpamAssassin

About XS4ALL

San Francisco – October 1, 2007 – Cloudmark, the global leader in carrier-grade messaging security, today announced that XS4ALL, a provider of hosting and broadband services in the Netherlands, has deployed Cloudmark Authority alongside Apache SpamAssassin™ to protect its one million subscribers from the full spectrum of messaging threats, including spam, phishing and viruses. Since deploying Cloudmark, XS4ALL has experienced a dramatic reduction in the level of spam, which, in turn, has led to improved customer satisfaction and savings in infrastructure and operational costs.

Cloudmark Authority enables service providers to significantly increase filtering accuracy while cutting CPU/server requirements and eliminating the need for on-going rules administration. Prior to implementing Cloudmark Authority on SpamAssassin, XS4ALL experienced message filtering accuracy around 60-70 percent. After deploying Cloudmark Authority, XS4ALL’s message filtering accuracy jumped to more than 97 percent.

Cloudmark Authority for SpamAssassin incorporates an integration layer that allows it to seamlessly plug into any existing SpamAssassin implementation, enabling the solution to be deployed in as little as half an hour. With Cloudmark Authority, there is no need for development resources or any impact on the existing infrastructure.

Cloudmark Authority combines Advanced Message Fingerprinting and real-time corroborated feedback from the Global Threat Network to rapidly scan messages for all forms of abuse, including viruses, spam and phishing, using an in-memory cache of verified fingerprints that is updated every 45 seconds.

Cloudmark has a long history with the open-source community through Vipul’s Razor. Developed by Cloudmark’s Founder and Chief Scientist Vipul Ved Prakash, Razor was the first messaging security plug-in for the SpamAssassin platform.

“Cloudmark’s objective is provide the most accurate and responsive messaging security solution to service providers of all sizes, regardless of whether they are using proprietary or open-source software,” said Vipul Ved Prakash, chief scientist of Cloudmark. “Cloudmark Authority for SpamAssassin delivers the most advanced messaging protection to service providers already using SpamAssassin, enabling them to experience the added benefits of Cloudmark’s technology without any disruption to existing infrastructure or operations.”
