Millions of NTT Communications' OCN Enterprise Subscribers Protected from Phishing, Spam and Other Message-Driven Attacks
SAN FRANCISCO—November 29, 2005—Cloudmark Inc., a proven leader in secure messaging for service providers, consumers and business, announced that Hugh David McCartney has been chosen as the company's new chief executive officer. McCartney has more than 25 years experience in the computer software industry, most recently as chairman of KVault Software Limited (KVS), a leader in email archiving. He was instrumental in the acquisition of KVS by VERITAS in 2004, a move lauded for boosting the company to instant market leadership with a feature-rich solution for its customers.
"Hugh McCartney's business acumen and values complement the Cloudmark management team, culture and company mission," said Eric Byunn, principal at FTVentures and member of the Cloudmark board of directors. "His established track record in taking growth companies to the next level will be invaluable as Cloudmark continues to gain traction worldwide as an innovator and leader in secure messaging, a position that is wholly compatible with Hugh's background as a leader of global organizations."
Cloudmark offers messaging security solutions that employ true real-time protection against spam, phishing and email-borne viruses with customizable solutions for each of its market segments. The Cloudmark Server Edition, tailored to business, was recently rated as "Most Accurate" by Network Computing in their lab testing of six messaging security solutions. Its Cloudmark Immunity solution for service providers can significantly reduce the network strain of traditional message processing. The company's Desktop solution for consumers has generated a community of millions of anti-spam fighters in 160 countries around the world. This active and trusted community provides the foundation for Cloudmark's innovative approach to combating messaging security risks.
"Cloudmark has innovative technology, effective products, and supportive investors," said Hugh McCartney, Cloudmark CEO. "As more and more service providers add their subscribers to the global community of users, the product set will only become more powerful. I look forward to working with the executive team to promote the company's efforts in new markets and advance solutions into each of its market segments to accelerate company growth."
Prior to KVS, McCartney was senior vice president of sales and services at locally-based enterprise software company Merant. He also held senior sales and general management positions in Europe with database vendors Sybase Inc. and Ingres Inc., and application software company MSA Inc. Formerly an independent director of Cloudmark's board, McCartney also served as chairman of UK-based Scapa Technologies, an innovator in security testing solutions; as an executive and chairman of Neverfail, a global provider of fail-safe technologies; and as chairman of Centennial Software, a developer of network discovery tools, in addition to holding board positions on several European software companies, both venture funded and publicly traded.
