Cloudmark Launches Carrier-Grade Anti-Spam, Anti-Phishing and Anti-Virus Solutions for ISPs in Spain
Rising Spam and Phishing in Spain a Growing Concern for ISPs and Email Users; Spain accounts for 8% of Europe's spam in October according to research by Cloudmark
Madrid, 13 November 2007 - Cloudmark, the global leader in carrier-grade messaging security, today announced the launch of its industry-leading solutions in Spain. Cloudmark will be working with local distribution partners, including Sun Microsystems in Spain, to offer Cloudmark Authority and Cloudmark Gateway to Spanish Internet service providers. Cloudmark has partnered with Panda Security, a leading provider of integrated security solutions, to offer Cloudmark technology to enterprises through Panda's GateDefender appliances.
Cloudmark's launch into Spain is part of its continued expansion into Europe, and follows the opening of the company's EMEA headquarters in the UK earlier this year. Cloudmark's decision to offer its services to the Spanish market is a result of the growing problem of messaging abuse plaguing European service providers and operators. Cloudmark reports that currently 85-90% of inbound email traffic in Europe is abusive compared to around 80% one year ago. Cloudmark's own research has shown that last month alone, Spanish computers accounted for 8% of all spam messages sent in Europe. This spam is primarily being sent from home computers compromised with viruses, known as "zombie PCs".
Cloudmark protects networks from all forms of messaging threats, keeping service provider infrastructure and subscriber mailboxes clear of unwanted traffic by blocking spam, virus and phishing attacks in real time. It combines highly sophisticated Advanced Message Fingerprinting™ technology, which immediately and automatically identifies any new threat and all its mutations, with its Global Threat Network, the largest and most sophisticated threat detection system in the industry, consisting of trusted reporters in 163 countries.
Because Cloudmark technology uses application and language-agnostic threat analysis, Cloudmark is able to detect threats in any form, format or language. Cloudmark's automated approach is proven to be 30% more accurate than other solutions with 20 times better message processing performance. Cloudmark significantly improves the email user experience while also reducing infrastructure and operational costs for service providers.
"GateDefender with Cloudmark technology offers companies of all sizes highly scalable and comprehensive gateway-level protection against messaging threats," commented Jose Antonio López, Director of Corporate Solutions at Panda Security. "We selected Cloudmark as our technology partner because of its high accuracy in detecting all forms of messaging abuse, along with extremely low false positives. Cloudmark's carrier-grade performance was also a key consideration."
"The proliferation of abusive messages presents a problem to all businesses, but none more so that the ISPs, who must process, store and transmit all this unwanted traffic," commented Neil Cook, Head of Technology Services, EMEA at Cloudmark. "Furthermore, the nature of messaging-based threats is evolving and becoming ever more complex. Cloudmark brings to the Spanish market a carrier-grade solution that addresses all categories of current and emerging messaging threats with high accuracy and efficiency."
