Cloudmark Joins Message Partners' Reseller Agreement with IBM to Fight Spam and Viruses

Industry's Most Promising Technology Ventures to be Honored at Red Herring Spring 2006 CEO Summit

San Francisco, CA, April 25, 2006 — Cloudmark, Inc., the authority in messaging security, announced an agreement today with Message Partners, a leading provider of email security software, that enables it to participate in a global agreement with IBM whereby Message Partners' flagship Message Processing Platform (MPP) can be resold as part of an integrated platform solution on IBM System p™ products for small to midsized businesses, along with an option for Cloudmark's Authority™ engine, a tailored messaging anti-abuse solution that blocks spam, phishing and virus-carrying emails at the gateway.

Under the five-year agreement, the solution can be sold by the IBM System p direct sales force and approved reseller and distributors worldwide. Financial details were not disclosed.

An integral component of IBM System p5™ Network eMail Security (NES) Express, the MPP is one of the industry's leading anti-virus, anti-spam archival and content filtering system. The solution combines the outstanding price performance of IBM System p servers, the flexibility of Linux, and adaptability and ease of management of an innovative message processing platform to deliver "rock-solid" protection against vicious computer virus attacks, worms and spam e-mail messages that infiltrate and wreak havoc on corporate networks.

According to Ferris Research, a San Francisco-based IT analysts firm, the e-mail security market is expected to grow by 25 percent a year through 2007, eventually reaching $5.5 billion in the U.S. alone by the year 2010. The IBM Network eMail Security Express offering is a powerful entry in this market. It is an ideal solution for small to medium-sized enterprises, education and service provider clients. IBM and its Business Partners can now sell the total NES solution, making it easier for clients to purchase the hardware, software and services together from one provider, with one purchase order.

This agreement gives IBM a way to drive Linux on low-cost System p5 servers with a compelling, business-critical solution that meets the growing email security needs of SMB enterprises. For service providers, NES offers a highly-scalable platform for tiered services on a per-domain, per-direction, per-user, per group basis.

At the heart of the NES solution is the MPP policy engine, which combines commercial and open source technologies into a modular, cost-effective, feature-rich and scalable email security and archival system that is easy to upgrade.

An additional option covered by the reseller agreement is the Cloudmark Authority™ engine, a tailored messaging anti-abuse solution that blocks spam, phishing and virus-carrying emails at the gateway before they can penetrate user inboxes, from Cloudmark® Inc., a San Francisco-based company that provides highly-reliable secure messaging products. This optional, zero-hour, real-time threat protection was cited by Network Computing magazine as "the most accurate detection engine of its kind, proven in numerous head-to-head trials."

"We are delighted to work even closer with IBM to deliver secure network solutions to our mutual clients," said Michael Katz, President of Message Partners. "We are convinced that this reseller agreement will significantly increase the reach and availability of MPP-based solutions. IBM System p servers are ideal for powering the Network eMail Security Express application, and we are pleased to have the new channel opportunities this agreement creates."

Added Jacinta Tobin, Vice President of Cloudmark Business Development: "Customers who opt for Cloudmark Authority will have significant increase in performance in both accuracy and message throughput. Cloudmark's solutions provide more rapid detection of messaging threats such as spam, a very effective method for detecting phishing attacks, and the first-line of anti-virus defense."

The IBM System p5 Network eMail Security Express solution is available now through the IBM System p sales force and authorized IBM Business Partners. It retails starting under $4000.
