Cloudmark Becomes Associate Member of ETIS Global IT Association for Telecommunications
Cloudmark Joins Pan-European Consortium of Service Providers to Further Advance the Fight Against Spam
San Francisco, July 2, 2007 – Cloudmark, the global leader in carrier-grade messaging security, today announced that it has joined ETIS, the global IT association for telecommunications, as an Associate Member. Cloudmark will work with ETIS to share knowledge and experience with its membership of major European national telecommunications organizations in order to intensify the industry's fight against the growing spam problem.
Cloudmark's carrier-grade software solution, Cloudmark Authority, delivers the industry's most effective and highest performing anti-spam, anti-phishing and anti-virus protection. The company's extensive user base consists of seven of the top 10 service providers in the U.S., eight of the top 10 in Japan, and some of the largest in Europe, including Swisscom. This legacy of experience makes Cloudmark uniquely positioned to understand the growing threat of spam on any network, whether wireline or wireless, and how best to combat that threat.
"We are delighted that Cloudmark has joined ETIS as an Associate Member," said Terje Tondel, managing director of ETIS. "Our members consist of some of the largest telecommunications organizations in Europe, which handle some of the highest volumes of messages in the industry. With spam making up 80 percent of all email traffic, the affect for our members is astronomical. They are fighting spam at the highest levels of message volume and we look forward to working with Cloudmark to address such an important issue."
"Cloudmark is privileged to be accepted into ETIS membership," said Bassam Khan, VP product marketing and marketing. "Addressing the issue of spam requires not only an effective technology solution, but also cooperation between service providers. ETIS provides that platform for cooperation, acting as an effective organization to address the mounting problem of spam in Europe. By working together, sharing knowledge and pooling resources, it is possible to reduce the volume of spam even before it hits a service provider's network, massively reducing the impact of spam."
For service providers, spam can cause overhead to spiral out of control. These costs include infrastructure for the storage of spam and an increase in operational costs, which adds to issues around customer relations and, in turn, leads to customer churn.
Cloudmark's easy-to-manage, scalable solution consistently blocks more than 98 percent of inbound and outbound messaging attacks in real time with near zero false positives. In addition to this level of accuracy, Cloudmark Authority requires significantly less processing power than competitive solutions, frees network resources and delivers an immediate improvement in filtering reliability and accuracy. The result is overall reduced overhead and improved customer experience.
