Cloudmark Announces Effort to Help Microsoft and Bill Gates Achieve Anti-Spam Promise
Cloudmark Backs Goal to Eliminate Spam by 2006; Delivers New Technology to Help Realize
SAN FRANCISCO — June 17, 2004 — Cloudmark™ Inc., the company that has invented the immune system for email, today announced at the Email Technology Conference (ETC) its efforts to help Microsoft's Bill Gates fulfill his promise to eliminate spam. On January 23, 2004 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Gates called for the total elimination of spam — claiming that Microsoft had the 'magic solution' to reach that goal in two years. Today, Cloudmark CEO, Karl Jacob, placed a stake in the ground with newly introduced Cloudmark Immunity, a solution that enables companies to stop 100 percent of spam with zero false positives, and took leadership for the charge to eliminate spam.
"Bill Gates' desire to end spam is one we have long-strived for in our unique technology approach and continued delivery of breakthrough anti-spam solutions," said Jacob. "Today, we are announcing a system that is already delivering 100 percent accuracy and zero false positives for over 12,000 people — a number that is growing steadily as the system gains momentum. With this, Cloudmark feels confident in stepping up to the challenge of helping Gates keep his promise to eliminate spam by January 23, 2006."
In a recent survey conducted by IDC, spam represented an estimated 32 percent of all email sent on an average day in North America. The same study stated that three-quarters of IT executives expect that number to rise in the next two years. In a company with 5,000 email users spam costs the enterprise over $4.1 million dollars. Cloudmark's Cloudmark Immunity solution will protect the heart of the enterprise by enabling them to stop 100 percent of the spam, ensuring that enterprises will never have to pay the cost of spam again.
"Cloudmark's new technology roadmap for reaching the end of spam, taking into consideration that spam is different for every company and individual, is a win-win for both the end-user and IT," said Brian Burke of IDC. "By not taking the 'one size fits all' approach of many, and delivering both a flexible and adaptive platform, Cloudmark is well-poised to make a significant impact in the fight against spam."
Cloudmark Immunity, the immune system for email, provides a complete infrastructure to protect the heart of the enterprise through Email Genetic Mapping (EMG), nD Visualizer technology and adaptive learning. With Cloudmark Immunity, companies will finally be able to attain the last mile in spam defense with the tools to stop 100 percent of all spam with zero false positives.
