Cloudmark Announces Cloudmark Gateway for Hosted Messaging Providers

Cloudmark Gateway, together with Cloudmark Authority, Delivers Comprehensive Threat Protection and Enhanced Message Handling Capabilities to Hosted Messaging Providers

San Francisco – September 24, 2007 – Cloudmark, Inc., the global leader in carrier-grade messaging security, today announced Cloudmark Gateway™ for Hosted Messaging Providers, a high-performance edge mail transfer agent (MTA) that integrates with Cloudmark Authority™, the company’s comprehensive messaging security solution. Cloudmark Gateway, in conjunction with Cloudmark Authority, offers hosted messaging providers the fastest, most complete messaging security solution available. By performing intelligent protocol and content filtering at the perimeter of the hosted messaging environment, Cloudmark Gateway prevents unwanted e-mail traffic from impacting messaging infrastructure and user inboxes. As a result, Cloudmark Gateway significantly reduces infrastructure requirements and improves the quality of service offered by hosted messaging providers.

As an edge solution, Cloudmark Gateway can be deployed seamlessly in any hosted messaging environment, including Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise and open source Linux-based e-mail platforms. In addition, Cloudmark Gateway offers carrier-grade reliability and scalability, critical for managed services environments where service level agreements (SLAs) include financial penalties for downtime or long delivery times. Cloudmark Gateway operates in a clustered configuration with shared intelligence, policy control and dynamic failover across the cluster, while Cloudmark Authority maintains a local cache of threat data for full redundancy and independence.

Each Cloudmark Gateway server or appliance is able to process more than 3 million messages per hour in tandem with Cloudmark Authority content filtering—20 times faster than competitive solutions—while utilizing only a fraction of the processing power required by other filtering solutions. This unmatched performance enables hosted messaging providers to easily scale with increasing e-mail traffic volumes.

“As a provider of hosted messaging services and platforms to enterprises, we wanted a centralized message security solution that was not only accurate at blocking unwanted traffic, but also offered expanded message handling capabilities that could easily scale to accommodate our growth,” said Ben Nunez, president at XIF Communications. “Cloudmark Gateway, together with Authority, fulfilled all of these requirements. After deploying Cloudmark, we have realized significant operational benefits and more importantly, are able to offer the best e-mail experience to our business customers.”

“More and more companies are turning to outsourced messaging providers due to the need for higher levels of reliability and security, enhanced messaging capabilities and greater cost savings,” said Jamie de Guerre, CTO of Cloudmark. “As a result, hosted messaging providers will be faced with growing traffic volume along with increased demands for storage resources. Cloudmark Gateway, together with Cloudmark Authority, enables providers to easily scale to meet this demand while delivering secure, reliable e-mail services that are customized to fit the unique security requirements of their customers.”
