  • Crash bug — A corrupted auto-update file caused Cloudmark Desktop to crash. Download the latest installer to resolve this issue.

Cloudmark Desktop 3.2 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 7/20/2007

  • Support for SSL POP — Cloudmark Desktop for Outlook Express now supports SSL-secured POP connections.
  • Image spam detection bug — A bug was fixed that prevented accurate detection of image spam.
  • Message tags eliminated — Messages are no longer tagged with "Scanned By Cloudmark" in the Subject field.
  • Known issue with message rules — If you have Outlook Express rules that move messages to different folders, Cloudmark Desktop does not scan these messages. This will be resolved in an upcoming release of Cloudmark Desktop for Outlook Express.

Cloudmark Desktop 3.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 4/17/2007

  • New fingerprinting algorithms — Two new message fingerprinting algorithms were added for improved accuracy, particularly with image-based spam.
  • Spam deletion bug — A bug was fixed that prevented the "Move Spam folder and delete permanently after one week" option from working as designed.

Cloudmark Desktop 3.0.2 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 2/12/2007

  • Image spam — Improved detection of image-based spam.
  • Invalid Smartlist entries — The Smartlist no longer allows changing an entry to an invalid format.
  • Crash during scanning — Fixed a problem that caused a crash during scanning.
  • Auto-scan problem — Fixed a problem that prevented auto-scanning from working correctly after upgrading to 3.0.1.

  • Unblock Message Issue – Resolved the issue when unblocking a message displays "You have Unblocked a message twice" dialog on first Unblock.

Cloudmark Desktop 3.0 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 11/21/2006

  • New Features
    • Address Book as Approved Senders list - The Approved Senders list (formerly the whitelist), includes the option to treat the contents of the Address Book as approved senders.
    • Spam Detected Options - Delete instantly, Move to Spam Folder and delete permanently after 1 week or 1 month.
    • Show or Hide buttons - Show or hide the Rating and/or the Statistics buttons on the toolbar.
    • Unblock to Smartlist - Unblocking a message and agreeing to the dialog will add the email address to your approved senders list.
  • Known Issue - Unblocking a message displays "You have Unblocked a message twice" dialog on first Unblock.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.12 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 08/14/2006

  • New Features
    • Split drop-down Block Button has been added which frees up space on the toolbar. Click on the Block button to block spam; click on the down arrow next to the Block button, select Block Phish to block a phishing message.
    • For our first time users, dialogs have been added to explain functionality when using Block Spam, Block Phish and clicking on the spam folder to Unblock a message.
    • Content in error dialog boxes has been rewritten to provide clearer information and links to KnowledgeBase articles.
    • Hotkey references have been added in the tooltips for the Block and Unblock button.
    • Desktop tutorial has been updated to supplement the menu item.
    • Desktop Help content has been added to supplement the menu item.
    • The ability to turn off the My Rating and Stats button has been implemented.
  • 'Unable to connect' error - Fixed a problem that affected a small number users who received an 'unable to connect error' when reporting multiple spam messages at the same time.
  • Outlook Express crash problem - Fixed a problem where Cloudmark caused a crash when logging off of an identity or switching to a different identity.
  • 'Session Timeout' error message - Fixed a problem where clicking on 'My Cloudmark' from the System tray menu resulted in a 'session timeout' error message.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.11 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 06/12/2006

  • Toolbar Changes
    • Block Fraud button has been changed to Block Phishing; the functionality remains the same.
  • Feature Parity with Cloudmark Desktop for Outlook
    • My Rating and the Statistics buttons have been added to the toolbar to match the features in Cloudmark Desktop for Outlook.
  • Cloudmark Menu Changes
    • My Cloudmark Account has been expanded with a sub menu that displays multiple options that are available to change account information
    • Get More from Cloudmark has been added with a sub menu that displays options for expanding your access to Cloudmark’s resources
    • Get Help has been added with a sub menu that displays options for accessing Help options; i.e., the tutorial, requesting technical help from the Support team and accessing the Knowledgebase articles
  • Activation Code Issue – Fixed a problem that affected a small number of new users where the activation code dialog did not display.
  • Block Fraud Confirmation Issue - Fixed a problem reported by customers where blocking a fraud message did not return a confirmation dialog.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.10 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 05/10/2006

  • Accuracy Improvement - Users have been reporting an increase in spam messages that are usually stock trading ads that use a new technique which embeds the text in an image. Previous versions of the Cloudmark Desktop for Microsoft Outlook Express product were not always able to block these messages.
    • Types of spam using this technique:
      • Stock ads
      • Home Mortgage ads
      • Pharmacy ads
    • A new image processing component has been added to Cloudmark Desktop for Microsoft Outlook Express in order to enable filtering this type of spam message with an embedded image. This component decodes the image to help with proper fingerprinting of the messages.
    • Note: Spam filtering accuracy will improve over time as members of the Cloudmark Community install this new version and begin blocking the messages that are delivered to their inboxes. There are several variations on the messages so continued message blocking will be necessary after the initial installation of Version 2.10.
  • New Cloudmark Logo – The new Cloudmark logo has replaced the old logo throughout the product. The most apparent change can be seen on the Cloudmark toolbar.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.9.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 04/04/2006

  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made to increase overall accuracy.
  • Missing Toolbar Issue – Fixed issues surrounding missing toolbar on upgrade.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.8.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 07/21/2005

  • Error when saving an attachment - Resolved issue where saving an attachment to a non-default location caused an error in Outlook Express.
  • Error when importing messages - Resolved issue where using the browse button when importing messages caused an error in Outlook Express; this issue affected a very small group of users.

Cloudmark Desktop V2.8 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 06/30/2005

  • Product Name Change - Name changed to Cloudmark Desktop for Microsoft Outlook Express. We have changed our product name to simplify and clearly communicate all of our solutions and better reflect our market-leading role in messaging security.
  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made to increase overall accuracy.
  • Installer Update - We are now installing InstallShield Update Service 4.0.
  • Product Fix - Changes made to avoid Outlook Express freezing during startup that has affected a very small number of users.
  • Blocking non-English spam - This option has been removed due to issues caused that affected a small number of users.

SafetyBar 2.7.2 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 04/21/2005

  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made to increase accuracy due to the large increase in spam messages promoting fake stock tips. We have made accuracy improvements to specifically fight this spam.
  • POP3/Proxy Issue - Resolved issue which affected a small number of users where the warning "SafetyBar was unable to enable filtering for one or more pop accounts" displayed when launching Microsoft Outlook Express®.

SafetyBar 2.7.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 04/08/05

  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made to improve spam filtering to increase overall accuracy.
  • Cannot Connect Dialog Box - Resolved issue that caused display of multiple connection retry dialogs which affected a small number of users.
  • Activation Code/Password Issue - Resolved issue that caused difficulty in activating the product when mismatched passwords were entered.

SafetyBar 2.7 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 03/17/05

  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made to increase overall accuracy.
  • POP3 Accounts - Resolved issue where SafetyBar did not find all POP3 accounts.
  • Connectivity - Improved usability when connectivity is compromised. If a connection cannot be made, the user will be asked to retry or cancel the process.
  • Installing on Windows 98 SE - Resolved issue with installation on Windows 98 SE.
  • Check for updates - Resolved issue which displayed a blank screen when checking for updates.

SafetyBar 2.6.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 01/25/05

  • Accuracy Improvements - Updates have been made in our communication protocol to improve spam reporting and spam filtering to increase overall accuracy.
  • Update notification - The update functionality remains the same; the Update Notification screen has been modified.
  • Issue reporting specific spam messages - Fixed a problem affecting a small number of users, where reporting a specific type of spam message resulted in SafetyBar freezing.

SafetyBar 2.6 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 12/15/04

  • Accuracy improvements - This release enhances SafetyBar's ability to stop spam and fraud.
  • New spam blocking option - The option to block all non-English messages as spam has been added in this release.
  • POP Proxy improvements - Changes have been implemented to improve POP proxy connections.
  • Installation issue resolved - A small number of users were affected by an installation issue. It has been resolved in this release.

SafetyBar 2.5.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 11/05/04

  • White-list restored - The previous release hid the entries in the white-list. This version completely restores all the white-list data.
  • Activation code error resolved - Some activated SafetyBar members were asked to re-enter their activation code when they upgraded. This release resolves this issue. The activation code is not needed after the upgrade if the software has already been activated with a previous version.

SafetyBar 2.5 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 11/03/04

  • Name change to SafetyBar - Cloudmark changed the name of the service to SafetyBar. All SpamNet subscribers may upgrade to the new version for free. Click here to download. For more information on the name change, click here.
  • Accuracy improvements - This release enhances SafetyBar's ability to stop spam.
  • Pay with PayPal - You can now purchase your SafetyBar subscription with PayPal.

SpamNet 2.1.1 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 08/03/04

  • Accuracy enhancement - The software adds a new spam-detection method to make SpamNet more accurate.
  • Unable to download mail after installing 2.1 - Version 2.1.1 resolves an issue where some members were unable to download mail after installing SpamNet for Microsoft Outlook Express® 2.1.
  • HTTP tunneling behind firewalls - This release improves SpamNet's ability to connect to the SpamNet service when the computer is behind a firewall.

SpamNet 2.0 for Microsoft Outlook Express® - 03/11/04
